Standard shelves in our living environment are made to simply organise and arrange things. This sculptural shelf has collapsed as the relevant carrying elements have been removed so that the individual boards are all lying on the ground. Source of inspiration are systems that have collapsed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Only with the support of human energy and creativity the original system can be restored again.
By putting material between each of the individual boards new forming places are created. Depending on material and position the shelf can adopt to completely different outer appearances every time it is rearranged. The interactive sculpture wants the user to take action and to recognise that his or her efforts and creativity have a direct influence on the end result.
